Anxiety, Panic, and COVID-19
When I was first approached to be a part of a national TV program addressing anxiety around COVID-19, my first reaction was ‘Why? I’m not a psychologist or psychiatrist!’ This is a serious pandemic, and people need guidance from medical professionals–from experts.
The producers of the show assured me that they have medical professionals lined up, but what they needed was someone who’d lived it, who had experience addressing anxiety from the inside. They’d heard about my books and presentations, and felt I would be a good fit. That made sense, and I hope the program will help people who are suffering during this challenging time.
And after reviewing the final cut, I must say, they know what they’re doing. This is a powerful, informative piece–the kind of thing I wish I’d seen before I knew what anxiety was. Hopefully the anxiety-management tools I share on this program will make a difference for someone watching. Getting through a pandemic isn’t easy for anyone, and it’s even more challenging for people with chronic anxiety.
Anxiety lives in the future, but as this program reminds me, so does HOPE. I’m honored that they asked me to be part of it, and I hope it helps.
